WEEK 1, July 5 – 9, 2010, for ages 6 - 8

Fun ‘n Games Around the World!

Spend the week learning games and pastimes from around the world. Games will be played inside and out; versions of games will be made to take home and share with family and friends. Activities will include versions of traditional games from the past (Checkers, Nine Man Morris, Bunco!) as well as favourite pastimes including making and flying your own kite! You will never be bored again! By the end of the week each participant will have a “trunk” of games and game pieces to take home.

Wednesday afternoon we will take part in the Simple Summer Pleasures presentation of critters and crawlers from the Guelph Nature Centre.

WEEK 2, July 12 – 16, 2010, for ages 8 – 12

Introduction to Archaeology

Each day this week we will explore knowledge gained through the art and science of archaeology. With Egyptian, Greek, Chinese, Viking and Canadian archaeology as our themes, participants will take part in crafts, activities and simulated “digs,” all the while learning what past archaeological finds have revealed to the modern world.

Wednesday afternoon we will take part in the Simple Summer Pleasures activity of papermaking; celebrating the role China played in making and using paper.
